Medical Fitness - Fitness for Medical Health

Many physical inactivity related diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, obesity and high cholesterol can be prevented and/or treated by being more physically active. Depending on your health and fitness situation choose from a range of testing services and programmes that will suit your individual situation.

Each of our MedFit programmes consist is available for all people to join (HKU Staff and Students will have a discounted price). 

Next round of classes will start in the week of the 14th of October 2024.

Registration of the classes will start on the 27th of September 2024 at 10am.

Those at risk of osteoporosis (low bone density)

Bone Health and Fall Prevention

Low bone density is a major public health issues and affects countless individuals. Lack of physical activity is a known modifiable risk factor for osteoporosis (1). Physical activity affects bone positively with muscle contractive forces and gravitational loading (2).

This 10-week exercise intervention not only aims to increase your physical activity and fitness levels but also help increase and/or maintain your bone density. After completing the gold-standard DXA bone density scan, you will be guided into a 10-week training intervention by CSE Exercise Specialists. Training will be conducted using various monitoring system to ensure effective workouts to help improve bone density, muscle mass and fat mass and cardio fitness level.
