Medical Fitness - Fitness for Medical Health
Many physical inactivity related diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, obesity and high cholesterol can be prevented and/or treated by being more physically active. Depending on your health and fitness situation choose from a range of exercise programmes that will suit your individual situation.
Each of our MedFit programmes are available for all people to join (Discounted for HKU Staff and Students).
Next round of classes will start in the week of the 14th of October 2024.
Registration of the classes will start on the 27th of September 2024 at 10am.
Our Medical Fitness Exercise Programmes
Hypertension Prevention
This 10-week exercise intervention will be conducted using various monitoring system to ensure effective workouts which target in controlling blood pressure, reducing body fat percentage, improving muscle mass and fat mass and cardio fitness level.
Target Group:
Those at risk of hypertension (high blood pressure)
Diabetes and Prediabetes Prevention
This 10-week exercise intervention will be conducted using various monitoring system to ensure effective workouts which target blood glucose control, body fat reduction, improving muscle mass and cardio fitness levels
Target Group:
Those at risk of diabetes/ prediabetes
Low Back Pain Prevention
This 10-week exercise intervention will be conducted using various monitoring system to ensure effective workouts which aim to reduce low back pain, body fat reduction, improving muscle mass and cardio fitness levels
Target Group:
Those at risk of low back pain (due to bad posture)
Bone Health and Fall Prevention
This 10-week exercise intervention will be conducted using various monitoring system to ensure effective workouts which aiming to improve bone density, balance, coordination, muscle mass and cardio fitness level
Target Group:
Those at risk of osteoporosis (low bone density)
Knee Pain Prevention
This 10-week exercise intervention will be conducted using various monitoring system to ensure effective workouts which aim to reduce knee pain, body fat reduction, improving muscle mass, muscle activation imbalance and cardio fitness levels
