The widely watched TV programme "Hong Kong United" on RTHK recently highlighted the Active Health Clinic and its involvement in the "HKU Cares" Student Sports Ambassador Pilot Programme. Launched by The University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2023, this initiative aims to train students to conduct fitness programmes for the elderly in Pokfulam and Kennedy Town. The goal is to promote healthy ageing and strengthen community ties. The programme features activities such as resistance band exercises and pickleball.

Students from diverse academic backgrounds, including education, medicine, nursing, science, and social work, received training in sports science, kinematics, human anatomy, and coaching from HKU Centre of Sports and Exercise (CSE) coaches. The programme was supported by the Communications and Public Affairs Office, Caritas Mok Cheung Sui Kan Community Centre, and the Pickleball Association of Hong Kong, China.

Since September 2023, over 200 elderly participants from Pokfulam have benefited, expressing high satisfaction. HKU also held six wellness classes in Kennedy Town from October to November 2023. More information can be found at HKU Cares Sports.
